Recent Screenings and Other News

Okehampton Moving Pictures has now been going for Ten years.

In that time we have moved from being a stand-in temporary cinema for Okehampton to a community cinema for the village halls around Dartmoor. For the last few years we have been taking an active part in the annual Chagford Film Festival; setting up in the Victory Hall, The Church and other venues in Chagford. A Particular favorite with OMP has been the oportunity to screen silent films with a score specially composed by Harpist Elizabeth Jane Baldry and performed as a live accompaniment, seen here with OMP member and big fan Derek

So far OMP has provided the Pictures for Elizabeth Jane's performances of "Sunrise", "A Cottage On Dartmoor" "Peter Pan" and "Nosferatu"

The Chagford Film Festival organisers always put on a good week of entertainment with lots of extras to interest film fans, and it is worth keeping an eye out for their next festival - the link to the festival above should point you in the right direction.

The moo man subject and director

This year included exhibitions, guests and, following OMP's screening of "The Moo Man", a question and answer session with Film maker Andy Heathcote (on the right) and Moo Man himself Stephen Hook (left).

This year we also contributed to another silent screening, this time in Okehampton as part of the Baring Gould Folk Weekend; where, in a last minute programme addition, Solarference gave a late night performance of their live accompaniment to the John Barrymore silent film "Dr Jeckle and Mr Hyde" and managed a very good audience turn out for a late night late addition.
